Welcome to Central Illinois Riding Therapy's Website.
Hello everyone please read all the way through and bear with us!!! Covid-19 has thrown us a learning curve too.
First and foremost, we hope this email finds you well. We are planning to partially open up starting June 1st. We will remain closed to the general public, tours, etc.
Volunteer training will start June 1st. Volunteers: please call us or email us with the date you wish to do the training as we will be limiting the number of people each night. We are discussing trying to do a Facebook live video or some kind of video for those unable to attend training sessions in person as volunteer training is very important for the safety of our riders, other volunteers, staff and horses.
Horse Handler Training

June 2, 6 pm to 8 pm

June 4, 6 pm to 8 pm
Advance Horse Handler Training
June 8, 6 pm to 8 pm

June 10, 10 am to noon
June 11, 6 pm to 8 pm
We will be scheduling when volunteers will be volunteering and coming to barn to meet the requirements of the state and health department.
Only Some Riders will be starting June 15. (Yes, very disappointing) At this point we will ONLY be riding Riders that are independent or only need a leader due to social distancing rules and guidelines.
Here are the rules that CIRT will be enforcing after much consideration for everyone's health to be compliant with the state and heath department regulations.
At this time everyone including Riders will have to wear a mask. No mask, no entry, no exceptions. (Masks can include homemade masks, bandanas, etc. as long as nose and mouth are completely covered)
If you are sick, not feeling well, around some who is sick or even think you might be. Stay home!!! Classes will be credited for any medical reason. We just ask that volunteers and riders PLEASE call us and let us know you or rider won't be coming.
CIRT Staff at their discretion have the right to ask anyone to leave or deny entry into the barn.
Everyone must wash their hands or use hand sanitizer when they enter the barn and leave the barn.
Classes will only be a half hour, no hour classes.
Classes will have a break in between to limit the number of people in the barn.
Only the rider and one person (parent, guardian or caregiver) bringing him/her are allowed in the barn, at this time no else is allowed in the barn. Should other family members or friends come they will be asked to stay outside.
Riders when they get to the barn will be asked to wait in the car until we motion or call you in.
Riders at this point will not be brushing horses or saddling to limit exposure.
Please, we know this is hard for everyone and us. We put everyone's safety first above all else. We are trying to ensure the safety of all of our horses, volunteers, riders, and staff.
These rules will be relaxed/changed as soon as they are able to be. They will be under constant review, updated, and added to and/or changed constantly as the regulations are!!!
Volunteers will have certain tasks assigned, some will brush only, some will saddle only, and some will lead only, etc. We are trying to limit the amount of exposure for everyone.
We will do our best to keep the barn and items used as sanitary as possible in our facility.
We feel that this time is the best way due to the higher risk of our clients and again want to keep everyone as safe as possible.
We will be calling all riders that have signed up so far that has paperwork turned in, to discuss this with you.
We hope we will be able to get back to everyone riding as soon as we can and what was considered to be normal before Covid-19.
Please bare with us (we know this is a huge disappointment to many of you as the students are missing seeing, interacting, and riding the horses, believe me we miss all of you just as much) and thank you for understanding.
We will continue to do what we can to fundraise. CIRT would like to thank everyone from our hearts who have continued to help support our program via monetary donations, supplies and other items. Every little bit helps, as we struggle through this together. If you want to help us and are unsure of how to help, please email or call us. No contribution is too small!!!
